On June 21, Professor Li Xinmin, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and Head of the Department of Psychiatric Medicine, University of Alberta, visited our university. President Li Xiaokun, WMU, attended the meeting. Officials from International Cooperation Office, Personnel Office, Finance Office, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, Second Clinical Medical College, School of Stomatology, School of Psychiatry and other relevant departments attended the meeting.
Li Xiaokun reviewed the achievements of his visit to Canada in May and made plans for further cooperation between the two universities. He said that the two universities have signed a letter of intent to build the Joint College, and the current focus was to efficiently and pragmatical promote the cooperation process of the Joint college. WMU will give the utmost support to the Joint College in the aspects of talent policy, financial budget, teaching and research, and also hopes that this promotion meeting, will further strengthen the communication between the two universities in the application of the joint college, discipline docking, financial budget, and jointly promote the preparatory work of the joint college.
Li Xinmin pointed out that the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Alberta is enthusiastic and fully supportive of the cooperation with Wenzhou Medical University, and expressed satisfaction with the speed of the cooperation between the two schools. He hoped that both sides could establish a stable and long-term cooperation mechanism as soon as possible and push forward the cooperation between the two universities in a planned and step-by-step way. In addition, he gave specific guidance and suggestions to the school running program of United College.
During the meeting, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on teacher training, student summer study, preparation of the joint college and other contents, and reached a preliminary intention on the division of departments, financial budget, teaching plan, application plan and other aspects.
